Prof. Dr. Andrea Schenker-Wicki (born in 1959) earned both a Master's degree in engineering at ETH Zurich and a Master's degree in business administration at the University of Zurich between 1978 and 1986. She completed her doctoral studies in 1990 at the University of Fribourg and, while working as Head of Information at the National Emergency Operations Centre (a federal emergency response organization), she completed her habilitation at the University of St. Gallen on the topic of evaluating university performance. In 1996, Professor Schenker-Wicki was named Privatdozent at the University of St. Gallen and, in the following year, became head of the section for universities at the State Secretariat for Education and Research. In 2001 she was appointed Full Professor of Business Administration at the University of Zurich, at which time she also took on the directorship of the Executive MBA Program at the Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Information Technology.
Her main areas of research are performance management, higher education management and systems theory. Alongside her work at the University, Professor Schenker-Wicki is member of the Austrian Science Board and the Swiss Science and Technology Council.
