Hans-Rudolf Lüscher

Prof. Hans-Rudolf Lüscher earned the degree Doctor of Medicine at the University of Zurich. After an extended research stay in the United States, Prof. Lüscher wrote his habilitation in physiology at UZH. He has been full professor for physiology at the University of Bern since 1986 and, from 1986 until 2009, was director of the Institute for Physiology in Bern. In 1991, the students' association in Medicine awarded him the title "Teacher of the Year". Prof. Lüscher also served twice as Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Bern. He was a long-time member of the research council at the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), was president of the Swiss Physiology Society and a board member at the Swiss Society for Neuroscience. Hans-Rudolf Lüscher has been on several extended research stays at universities in Australia and Germany.
