Management
The University of Zurich is an autonomous institution of the Canton of Zurich and is subject to public law. The executive committees ensure that the university is run smoothly and efficiently, safeguard academic freedom and take into account the interests of the community.
Board of the University
The Board of the University is the university's highest body. It is responsible for strategic decisions and directly supervises the university. (University law § 29)
Executive Board of the University
The Executive Board of the University is the operational management body, overseeing all areas of the university. It is responsible for all university matters which fall outside the scope of responsibility of the other bodies. (University law § 31)
Extended Executive Board of the University

Senate
The Senate applies to the Board of the University for the election and dismissal of the President and Vice Presidents. It can issue statements on matters relating to any area of the university. (University law § 30)
