The University of Zurich invites applications for a professorship in Slavonic linguistics (open rank) starting at the earliest possible date.
Candidates are expected to have an outstanding academic record in teaching and research in the entire field of Slavonic linguistics. Their research and teaching is expected to cover two areas of East, West or South Slavonic studies, with expertise in South Slavonic studies particularly desirable. In addition, the candidate must be able to connect their research and teaching with interdisciplinary Eastern European research, e.g. in research areas such as migration and multilingualism, language contact, language history and areality, or in relation to the social dimension of language (language and politics, language and gender), and to linguistic research that is conducted in Zurich (e.g. at the Zurich Center for Linguistics, LiZZ).
Candidates must hold a PhD degree at the time of application and have an excellent record of academic achievements in the relevant field. Depending on the qualification of the successful applicant, the appointment will be at the rank of either full professor, associate professor or assistant professor with tenure track. Teaching may be carried out in English. Non-German speaking candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first three years of their appointment.

The University of Zurich invites applications for an assistant professorship with tenure track in prevention and mental health. The position should be filled by 1 August, 2025 or at the earliest opportunity. After two temporary three-year contracts the position will become tenured on the condition that the candidate passes the evaluation process. This is a dual professorship at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine, with a primary affiliation to the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
Candidates must have a clear subject matter profile with a focus on clinical-psychological prevention research and an excellent international track record in this field. The candidates’ research focus should be on the indicated and/or selective prevention of mental disorders, including innovative approaches (e.g. digital mental health, telemedical and/or personalized approaches, etc.). Research work can be located at the macro (e.g. identification of risk groups and courses; effects on incidence and prevalence etc.), meso (e.g. implementation and acceptance; processes and outcome of preventive measures; client/caregiver characteristics etc.) and/or micro level (e.g. client/caregiver interactions; couple interaction in the clinical context etc.). Further psychotherapeutic training (specialist title, license to practice) to become a psychotherapist in the adult field would be advantageous.
Successful candidates with existing psychotherapeutic training will be able to participate in the UZH Center for Psychotherapy. In teaching, the professorship should be able to cover the entire range of topics in clinical psychology.
In addition to innovative research impulses for the subject, the professorship is expected to collaborate in research and teaching with other professorships at the Department of Psychology and to cooperate in research at the Faculty of Medicine, in particular at the Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention Institute. A good national and international network and knowledge of the Swiss healthcare system or the willingness to familiarize oneself with it are also expected.
Candidates must hold a PhD degree at the time of application and have an excellent record of academic achievements in the relevant field. The administrative language of the University of Zurich is German, which is why candidates are expected to acquire a working knowledge of German within the first three years of their appointment.
The Department of Psychology values transparent, reproducible and replicable research and supports open science practices. Applicants are asked to outline in their application how they have already pursued these practices in the past and/or would like to pursue them in the future.
The Department of Psychology, the University of Zurich and Zurich as location of higher education offer a stimulating research and teaching environment with diverse opportunities for professional exchange and cooperation. The University of Zurich is an equal opportunities employer. In order to increase the gender diversity in leading academic positions, qualified women and individuals from other underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply (https://www.gleichstellung.uzh.ch/en.html).
