Property-Owning Democracy and the Difference Principle
Property-owning Democracy (POD) stands for the idea that productive capital should be dispersed as widely as possible. According to John Rawls, utilitarian welfare capitalism is opposed to POD and has generally turned away from realizing liberal principles of justice. The speaker will address the problem of finding a coherent and distinct model of POD and will clarify the relation between Rawls’ theory of distributive justice and POD.
