Paleontological Museum

Paläontologisches Museum

The University of Zurich's Paleontological Museum exhibits one of the world's most important collections of marine reptiles and fish from the middle Triassic time, about 235 to 245 million years ago. These and the extraordinarily well-preserved and scientifically valuable fossils from Monte San Giorgio, the UNESCO world heritage site in southern Ticino, form the core of the museum’s collection.

Did you know?

Fossils from in and around Zurich, the Alps and North America provide visitors with an in-depth look into the changing animal world in more recent history. In addition, colorful illustrations of long-extinct animals convey an idea of how they may have looked.
