As an auditor – a non-matriculated student – you can attend regular lectures at the University of Zurich to acquire knowledge for your personal benefit. Auditors are, however, not permitted to take exams and do not receive credit for coursework.
All courses for the current and the coming semester are listed in the University of Zurich's course catalogue. Please note that auditors may only attend lectures (not other course types), and that certain faculties do not allow non-matriculated students to attend their lectures. The provisions for auditing courses contains further information on this and other questions.
Before you register, please choose the lectures you would like to attend. You must register in person at the Kasse (Cashier's Office) of the University of Zurich. Please note that you must sign up for courses each semester at the cashier’s office.
You can register as an auditor at any point in time during the year. Nonetheless, to profit most from a lecture, we advise you to observe the regular semester dates and to attend lectures from the outset.
The semester fee for auditors (including registration during a semester) is:
- for 1 – 2 hours per week CHF 110.00
- for each additional hour CHF 55.00
- for 7 and more hours per week CHF 660.00
The fees must be paid in cash at the Kasse (Cashier's Office) of the University of Zurich. When paying for additional lectures during a given semester, auditors must present their “Auditorenschein” (their record of lectures attended) which they received when signing up for the lectures.
Auditors may apply to be given access to the UZH online learning platform OLAT. Please contact the UZH Student Administration Office to apply.
