The University of Zurich holds an entrance examination for students educated in Switzerland or abroad who do not have recognized qualifications for admission.

The registration form must be submitted together with the lists of works, list of subjects relating to the major subject and the receipt of payment of the examination fees.

Examinations are held each year in summer.

Canceling examination registrations
Registrations may be cancelled with no explanation up to ten working days before the start of the examination period, thereafter registrations may only be cancelled for important reasons.
If a registration is cancelled, the Student Administration Office must be notified immediately.
Registrations that are cancelled late and where applicants have no good reason for canceling will result in the student failing the examination.
Passing the examination
The entrance examination is deemed to have been passed if the average mark over the nine subjects examined is at least 4 and if no mark below 2, no more than one mark below 3 and no more than three marks below 4 are recorded.
If unauthorized aids are used, a fail will be recorded for all parts of the examination.
Fees
The fees for the full entrance examination are CHF 500.
It is possible to re-sit the entrance examination once only, in which case the fee must be paid again.
Candidates who withdraw their registration at least 10 working days before the start of the examination period are entitled to reimbursement of the examination fees paid, minus a service charge of CHF 50.
