Prof. Dr. Volker Bornschier

Volker Bornschier was born in Witten, Germany, in 1944. After studies of sociology and economics he received his Ph.D. in Sociology in 1972. His habilitation followed in 1976, while he served on the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zurich, where he has been a professor of sociology since 1981. He has published twelve books and numerous articles in leading social science journals. From 1983-1996 he was president of the World Society Foundation.
