How can you find the right journal for your publication? To answer this question, you can first ask yourself these questions:
- Is it a short communication on cutting-edge research demanding fast publication?
- Or rather a full-length paper with lots of detailed discussions that needs more than five pages?
- Is your work relevant to a broad audience or is it more suited for specialists in a certain field ?
There are different ways to select the right journal for your publication.
- through the databases Web of Science or Scopus
– start with a search query (e.g. climate change ice sheet mass loss) and analyze the search result by journal titles
– search for specific authors/organisations and analyse their publications - on the journal page
The page “About the Journal” describes the main topic of the journal. If the main topics overlap with your own work, there is a good chance that your publication will be accepted. - on websites

And: There are many other ways: look at the editorial board, ask colleagues, etc.
