Currently, more than 131’000 UZH publications with 624’000 authors as well as more than 166’000 unique author names are listed by ZORA. Previously, lists of authors were generated weekly using an elaborate process that lasting several days and stored in ZORA as long HTML pages with thousands of names – that’s a thing of the past. It is replaced now by a lookup function: Just enter a few characters of a name or an ORCID iD, and you will get a concise list with matching names. By clicking on a name you can call up the corresponding list of publications. The flexible search allows input variants with or without diacritical characters (e.g. umlauts) and their transliterations. Compared to the previous lists, the name lookup is always up-to-date: As soon as a new publication of an author or a new author name is added to ZORA, these are immediately available in the results.

With the change to dynamic author lists, we would like to make the following recommendations:

  • The name list consolidates persons and their publications according to surname and initials – i.e. Meier B includes Meier Beat, Meier Beatrice etc. If you wish your name to appear distinctively in the list, we recommend that you register with ORCID, deposit your ORCID iD in ZORA and mark your publications in ZORA with the ORCID iD: Please note the ORCID webpage of the main library for instructions.
  • Links to the static author lists no longer work. In many cases, they were used to link the publications of an author. We recommend UZH members to use the ZORA component of Magnolia for their web presence. External authors are recommended to search for their name on https://www.zora.uzh.ch/creators_editors.html, to call the corresponding publications and to use the URL of this publication search for linking.
