EBSCOhost offers an alternative way to search for academic information and is one of the world’s most biggest multidisciplinary database for academic web resources and contains more than 36 disciplinary databases.

In comparison to Web of Science and Scopus, EBSCOhost is characterised by the following features:

  • Especially in Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Psychology, Asian Studies and Education Research the databases offer far more.
  • Many source types like Working Papers, Reports, Conference Proceedings, Dissertations, Reviews and Newspaper articles kann be searched.
  • To search more precisely and more efficient, the use of the subject specific thesaurus and subject tems is very helpful
  • In many of the databases the search with broader terms, narrower terms and related terms is offered, which makes the search more precise.
  • The display of search results includes precise bibliographic data.
  • Display of access and terms of re-use for a document.
  • Several options for sorting the result list.
  • Refine your search result” options (by author, subject, year of publication, country, language, document type, access and terms of re-use).
  • Advanced search offers vast possibilities for very precise results.
