The UZH libraries remain closed and many students cannot study In their usual places. Here are some tips for those who have never studied at home alone:

  1. Set up an ergonomic workplace,as far as possible. Clear your desk and avoid distraction.
  2. Get an overview over of the lectures held digitally, the learning material, and the time remaining until submissions are due or until the exams. Divide what you have to study over the available days, and do not forget to plan for free days and enough time for repetitions at the end. E.g. a bullet journal can help with planning.
  3. Set up your technical equipment (VPN, OLAT) if you have not already done so. That way you can download required documents or e-books. The libraries will encourage publishers to temporarily offer additional e-media.
  4. Order required books from the library in time (Main Library, other UZH libraries, Zentralbibliothek). It takes a few days until they arrive by mail.
  5. Structure your learning days, e.g. with apps like Pomodoro.
  6. Schedule active breaks. ASVZ puts videos of popular workouts on Youtube.
  7. Exchange information virtually with your fellow students.
  8. Stay at home. And stay healthy.
