The fees for Open Access articles vary greatly depending on the publisher and the journal. The international OpenAPC initiative pursues the goal of making the costs paid by universities and research funding bodies transparently accessible. Interested institutions can submit lists containing paid Article Processing Charges to OpenAPC. OpenAPC stores and publishes the data ordered per institution and year in the online service GitHub. Additionally, OpenAPC provides a graphical visualisation.

A data set is now available from UZH. OpenAPC records article fees that were fully or partially financed from the publication fund for the humanities and social sciences administered by the Main Library from 2012-2019. The interactive presentation of the figures is available at here. The individual data sets can be downloaded directly from Github.

At present, only data of the Main Library are available, as publication fees are not centrally recorded at the UZH currently. With the planned introduction of new special Open Access accounts in the financial management system, more UZH-related data might be submitted to OpenAPC in the future.
