Since 1 July 2020, scientists at the University of Zurich are able to publish Open Access articles free of charge in journals published by Springer Nature. This agreement covers the article processing charges (APCs) for a fixed number of articles published in hybrid journals per year. This number has now been reached for 2020. Until the end of 2020 the UZH will no longer cover Open Access article fees. Members of the University of Zurich or its affiliated hospitals may continue to publish OA articles, but at their own expense. It is also possible to choose the green Open Access way (self-archiving) for publishing Open Access. The accepted manuscript can be published in a repository 12 months after publication (e.g. ZORA). Further information to the Read&Publish agreement with Springer Nature can be found here.

The Open Access agreement with Springer Nature has not ended. As of 1st January 2021 open access articles can again be published free of charge under the agreement.
