Three of this year’s PhD graduates where seen at the faculty’s graduation party recently sporting shirts, jackets, and even a tie was seen. Join us into congratulating Lorenz Fischer, Cosmin Basca, and Philip Stutz (from left to right in picture below) to their successful PhD.

Cosmin Basca, who just recently defended his thesis, will be joining ORACLE Labs in Zurich. This is a great success for Cosmin, who was researching federated triple-stores. Well done Cosmin!

Since last week-end DDIS is also a cake. In our social get together a home-made cake with the DDIS logo was presented and appreciated for both its culinary and artistic value… Unfortunately, the cake did not survive the day as many hungry DDIS-members seemed to appreciate it just a little bit too much.

DDIS Graduate Katharina Reinecke wins Mercator Dissertation Award

DDIS Graduate Katharina Reinecke wins the Mercator Dissertation award with her thesis “Culturally Adaptive User Interfaces“. The dissertation investigates how to build user interfaces that automatically adapt to a user’s cultural background. She finds that her approach significantly improves the users’ efficiency.
