DOAB and DOI Import: Importing OA publications into ZORA even easier
Read this post in Deutsch
It is now possible to import OA books from the “Directory of Open Access Books” (DOAB) database into ZORA. All you need to do is enter the corresponding “DOAB Handle” or a DOI. The import takes a short while because the PDF document of the book or book chapter is also downloaded and imported at the same time, together with the available licence information (e.g. a Creative Commons licence).
For the import of OA publications in general, the import plugin via DOI has also been optimised, which pulls bibliographic information from the “Crossref” database. Thus, for all imports, the associated PDFs and the open licence are now automatically uploaded as well, provided that there is a Gold or Hybrid Open Access version available.
We hope that this will significantly reduce the input effort. Using the import functionality via a persistent identifier (such as DOI, DOAB Handle, Pubmed ID, etc.) usually results in more correct and complete entries that require less post-processing.
The ZORA team is already working on further import options, for example for book chapters and books via ISBN.
