Michael Hess is Professor emeritus of Computational Linguistics. He was a professor of Computational Linguistics from 1994 to 2014, and he headed the Department of Computational Linguistics from its foundation in 2001 to December 2014.

My interests are mainly
- computational semantics (with Answer Extraction as its main application)
- logic programming in its applications to the problems of Computational Linguistics, and
- web-based methods of teaching (primarily but not exclusively as applied to Computational Linguistics).
