QS Ranking 2014: UZH Makes Major Jump Forward

In 2014, UZH made a large jump forward in the QS Ranking (Quacquarelli Symonds). After having already gained 12 places in 2013, this year our University was able to move up a total of 21 places. Now, UZH is rated 57th in the world, the best standing since the QS Ranking has been carried out.

The higher standing is mainly the result of an increased rate of publication by UZH researchers and of continually improving student-instructor ratios. A further positive development was in the results of the reputation surveys conducted among academics and large companies. The international character of the teaching staff represents another positive factor.

UZH is particularly pleased about the the results in the individual subject areas:

  • Arts & Humanities: international rank 103, national rank 1
  • Life Sciences & Medicine: international rank 43, national rank 2
