THE Ranking by Subject 2019: UZH with best ranking ever in three disciplines

Still leading in social sciences, business & economics and law: The University of Zurich has achieved its best-ever ranking in three out of four subjects in the 2019 Times Higher Education World University Ranking.

UZH has moved up the rankings significantly in the social sciences (+26, from 88th to 62nd), and was able to improve its high position slightly in the business & economics ranking (from 43rd to 42nd). In the law ranking, too, UZH climbed seven positions, from 91st to 84th. The only drop came in education, where it fell 12 places from 80th to 92nd.

THE has currently only published the ranking positions, which is why the reasons for these ranking changes cannot yet be explained, nor can any conclusions be drawn from the data submitted by UZH. As with the THE overall rankings published in September, one of the main reasons, however, is likely to be an adjustment in how the data is entered: For the first time, full-time equivalents were broken down into the individual subjects.
