Sustainability Now! Analysing Empowerment for Change
Ringvorlesung Nachhaltigkeitsteam UZH
The lecture series organized by the UZH sustainability team and the Right Livelihood Center is taking place for the third time. Here global societal challenges and transdisciplinary problems such as climate change, loss of biodiversity, scarcity of resources, economic instability and social inequalities will be discussed.
The focus of this year's lecture series is on empowerment. What social, economic, legal and political changes are necessary in order to allow disadvantaged population groups to participate in societal change in a self-determined manner? Each lecture focuses on a specific aspect of "Empowerment for Change", such as the reintegration of child soldiers in Somalia or the strengthening of women's rights in Egypt. The talks will be given by invited laureates of the Right Livelihood Award, also known as the “alternative Nobel prize”. The presentations will be followed by topical panel discussions with UZH researchers and experts from the world of politics, culture and the NGO sector.
