Michèle Hofmann is a senior researcher (postdoc) at the Institute of Education at the University of Zurich. Before joining the University of Zurich, she worked as a senior researcher and lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW). She holds a master’s degree in history and a Ph.D. in the history of education from the University of Bern. She has been a guest lecturer at the University of Vienna, the Humboldt University of Berlin, the University of Fribourg, and the University of Education in Ludwigsburg as well as a visiting scholar at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and at Stanford University’s Stanford Graduate School of Education. Her academic interests include the medicalization of education, the history of (special) education in Switzerland, the history of childhood, and historical research methodology.
