Abstract PhD project

Integrative forms of education increased considerably in recent years and students with difficulties in mathematics mostly attend regular classes. Nevertheless, there are only a few evaluated remedial programs. In the SNF study "Fostering pupils with mathematical disabilities (MLD) in inclusive classrooms", a quasi-experimental long-term study (N = 888) was conducted to investigate if a remedial program in mathematics that focuses on basic arithmetical competences is effective in grade three. In addition, the study investigated which characteristics on individual and class level had an influence on mathematics achievement and the effectiveness of the remedial program.
