Using Prevention – Subjectivization Forms of a Problematic Discourse

Completed

Against the background of a problematic discourse regarding youth violence, this dissertation illuminates the relationship of social work and criminal politics within the context of youth violence prevention. The initial question concerning ways of orientation of socio-pedagogical professionals towards objectives of criminal politics is approached discourse-theoretically. Empirically, two data sources are correlated with each other: open interviews with professionals of different socio-pedagogical contexts and a political prevention program, located in Switzerland, which contains methodical challenges regarding the integration of interpretative and discourse-analytical processes. Apart from a methodical discussion, the dissertation contributes to sociological theory formation regarding violence, current youth-sociological discourses, and a critical argument with prevention within socio-pedagogical contexts.
