Use and Infrastructure


The IKMZ library is a reference library. Items from its collection cannot be loaned out and can only be used on the library premises. The library can be accessed by all members of the University of Zurich and of ETH, as well as all private individuals aged 16 and over.

Inter-library loans: No loans. It is possible to order copies.

Students enrolled in the Department of Communication and Media Research as a major or minor subject can use the library outside of opening hours. Please contact the library management for authorization.
This offer is currently not possible due to Corona-related restrictions.

The library offers a total of 34 workspaces, including 3 equipped with a PC. You can also bring your own laptop to use for your work. Due to Corona, only 17 workstations can be used. These must be reserved via a booking system.

A group study room is available (room 3.51). Corona-related restrictions apply here as well.

An all-in-one printer, scanner and copier is available at the library entrance. For more information, see UZH Print Plus 4Students.

Students have access to the university’s wifi network. External users can request a day pass from the library staff.

Lockers are available in the entrance area. You will need to bring your own lock. More detailed information on use can be found in the library regulations (PDF, 30 KB).

Lockable charging stations for electronic devices are available near the info desk. Keys can be obtained (borrowed) from library team. More detailed information on use can be found in the library regulations (PDF, 30 KB).
