Exhibitions

The Ethnographic Museum displays changing exhibitions with ethnological objects from its three depots as well as selected loans. As "windows of science for the public", the museum has three exhibition areas which correspond to plans based on current research at the museum.

A part of the exhibitions are conceived and carried out by students as a part of the research-based teaching. A further part of the exhibitions are comprised of research projects at the museum, currently including the research fields: museum and collection history, technical ethnology and expertise, visual anthropology, ethnology of knowledge and the delivery thereof as well as music ethnology.

Furthermore in view are exhibition topics which take a stance from an ethnological perspective on the latest public developments and trends. Guest exhibitions are shown occasionally, and if, then usually as a result of a research cooperation with another museum or research center. Unfortunately the depots cannot be viewed.
