New instructors are registered with the Human Resources (HR) Department by the responsible organizational units in the faculties using the relevant form. Changes to personal data, such as address, marital status and bank account, must be reported to the HR Department.
When you begin working as an instructor at UZH, an automated procedure to register you as a staff member in the UZH Identity Manager and to open your various accounts (e.g. e-mail) is triggered, as a rule 10 days before the start of the semester (Spring Semester: 1 February; Fall Semester: 1 August). Your personal ITIM account will be available nine days before the start of the semester.
The UZH Identity Manager is a virtual “key box” allowing you to manage the accounts of all electronic services provided by the University of Zurich. All information regarding your accounts is sent by regular mail; we recommend resetting the passwords immediately.
UZH Short Name
Your UZH short name grants you access to various online services (e.g. teaching staff portal, library accounts) as well as electronic resources (e.g. WLAN, proxy, remote-access VPN) that are available only to the UZH community. You must set an individual password for all resources and services.
The University of Zurich sends its official communications solely to your personal UZH e-mail account.
The UZH Card is your staff ID card and is issued for the duration of your employment. Your UZH Card is your ID card for use all around the University; it can be used as a library card and grants access to the services of the Academic Sports Association Zurich. Staff with a valid UZH Card also benefit from special offers with the car-sharing cooperative Mobility.
You must revalidate your UZH Card every semester at a validating station.
