Clinic of Conservative and Preventive Dentistry

The Clinic of Conservative and Preventive Dentistry is devoted to maintaining and regenerating healthy tooth structures. We cover a large field of clinical dentistry. Likewise, our research follows multiple tracks. There are five workgroups in our research: preventive dentistry and oral epidemiology, periodontology, cariology, endodontology, and computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) of dental restorations. Research in these fields embraces a large spectrum of investigations, from cross-sectional studies on caries prevalence to laboratory investigations and the development of new software in the CAD/CAM field. There is good cooperation between the groups in our clinic. These synergies allow us to perform research at the interface between periodontology, endodontology, and restorative dentistry. In addition, there are multiple cooperative projects with other clinics at our school, as well as with the Institute of Oral Biology, the Laboratory for Craniofacial and Oral Biotechnology, and last but not least the Functional Materials Laboratory at ETH Zürich and other Universities worldwide.
