All Platinum OA Journals in Switzerland at a glance

The ongoing PLATO study provides an overview of all Platinum Open Access journals in Switzerland as a first result.

Platinum Open Access (also known as Diamond Open Access) refers to publishing and accessing scientific publications at no cost to authors and readers. The OA Diamond Journals Study published in 2021 by Science Europe and the cOAlition S provided the first overview of this international ecosystem of scientific publishing. Since then, initiatives have emerged in various countries to promote Platinum Open Access more strongly, including Switzerland.

In order to set strategies for the further development of Platinum OA publishing in Switzerland, it is first necessary to have a comprehensive overview of the current situation. Thus, the PLATO* study now provides, as a first result, a bibliometric list of the platinum OA journals already existing or soon to be published in Switzerland:

The list also includes those journals that are in the transition phase to Platinum OA or are not (yet) indexed in DOAJ and/or other databases. The list was compiled from April to June 2022.

*The Platinum Open Access Funding (PLATO) project was initiated by six Swiss universities and provides the basis for promoting sustainable Platinum Open Access publishing in Switzerland. The project is co-financed by swissuniversities.
