Two journals – One Concept: A Fresh Approach to Publications in the legal sciences

The two journals “rechtstexte” and “Zeitschriften des Rechts” bring the publishing culture of the legal sciences in complementary content to the Open Access platform of the University of Zurich.

Two new journals for the legal sciences have recently become available on the publication platform “HOPE”. Their symbiotic concept is innovative, new and exciting at the same time: “While ‘rechtstexte’ enables the low-threshold publication of legal contributions, ‘Zeitschriften des Rechts’ brings together writings that are currently judged to be particularly worth reading – texts that have already been published elsewhere.”

Open Platform – Curated Selection

The journal “rechtstexte” thus provides a platform that is open to all areas of law and enables researchers in the legal sciences to publish their own contributions. These contributions can in turn come from the scholars themselves as well as, for example, from other legal scholars, young academics and practitioners.

The journal “Zeitschriften des Rechts”, on the other hand, functions as a collection point for outstanding current contributions in the field of jurisprudence. The aim is to present a selection of texts particularly worth reading in one place in view of the increasing flood of publications and the scattered nature of the texts published. Specialized editors for different fields of law make the selection and bring the selected contributions together in the corresponding issues of the journal.

Both journals were founded by Prof. Dr. iur. Walter Boente, Chair for private law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich. We look forward to many exciting publications.

HOPE stands for Main Library Open Publishing Environment. HOPE provides researchers at the University of Zurich with a platform for publishing open access journals. This service is offered by the University Library of Zurich (UB) based on the infrastructure of the Central IT. The open source software Open Journal Systems (OJS) is used as a basis, which enables the management and publication of scientific journals.
