Now available: Overview of Standards and Best Practices in Diamond Open Access Publishing

Read this post in Deutsch

The PLATO project website provides publishers of Diamond Open Access journals with practical information on requirements and recommendations in the field of scholar-led open access publishing.

The Swiss landscape of Diamond Open Access journals is diverse in terms of disciplines, languages, publishers and publishing practices. The strength of scholar-led publishing lies precisely in its embeddedness in the scientific community and the respective disciplinary publishing cultures and conventions. In the field of OA publishing, however, specific technical and non-technical requirements apply, which should be taken into account for the successful and sustainable running of a Diamond Open Access journal.

Recommendations in German, English and French

Against this background, the PLATO project has now compiled an overview with information about standards, requirements, and recommendations in the area of workflows, standards in open access publishing and sustainability, all with the aim to support editors in identifying potential for optimisation and in positioning their journal in the best possible way and operating it in a future-oriented manner.

This overview is available in German, English and French. A checklist also provides a quick overview of requirements and recommendations.

Upcoming webinars for editors of OA journals

In addition, the PLATO project offers two webinars for editors to learn about current standards and best practices as well as sustainability and funding. The webinars will take place on September 15th and September 22nd, 2023, 11am–12pm. Registration for both webinars is possible via the following link: https://ema.uzh.ch/RL4V4.
