New Open Access Journal on HOPE — Journal of Animal Law, Ethics and One Health (LEOH)

The Faculty of Law is pleased to announce the launch of LEOH, a new Open Access journal that will examine issues relating to animals as well as the One Health approach from a legal and ethical perspective.

The Journal of Animal Law, Ethics and One Health (LEOH) is a new open access academic journal launched in 2023 at the Faculty of Law at the University of Zurich. The two chairholders and founders Prof. Dr. iur. Margot Michel and Prof. Dr. iur. utr. Brigitte Tag would like to provide a forum for the discussion of legal and ethical issues relating to animals, as well as the One Health approach and its perspectives for the law and the realm of ethics. In addition, the Journal aims to provide a platform for the examination of pivotal case law and legislation relating to or having an impact on animals.

Open call for academic contributions

LEOH invites authors to submit academic contributions in German, French or English on the human-animal relationship in law and ethics, as well as the link between animal, human, and environmental health (Call for papers, Summer 2023). Also shorter papers discussing developments in case law and legislation at the national level and in the European context are welcomed. In addition, proposals for guest issues and special issues are welcome.

HOPE stands for Main Library Open Publishing Environment.

HOPE provides researchers at the University of Zurich with a platform for publishing open access journals. This service is offered by the University Library of Zurich (UB) based on the infrastructure of the Central IT. The open source software Open Journal Systems (OJS) is used as a basis, which enables the management and publication of scientific journals.
