Jason Roy Gary mit Baan Slavens

Wie in den vergangenen Jahren findet das IBM Connect User Group (ICON) Switzerland Meeting am 13. September 2017 ab 15:00 an der UZH (KOL-F-104) statt. All jenen die 2012 Mat Newmann’s Präsentation zu Notes gesehen haben, ist sicher noch sein gelber Anzug in Erinnerung. Damals noch die Farbe von Notes.

Jason Roy Gary (Director of Software Development and IBM Distinguished Engineer with IBM’s Collaboration Solutions) hat die Zukunftspläne zu IBM Connections Pink an der IBM Connect 2017 in einem pinken Anzug gehalten. Und seine Präsentationen wecken Erinnerungen an Mat Newmann. Wir freuen uns ausserordentlich, dass wir ihn als Sprecher für diese Veranstaltung gewinnen konnten. Ebenso hocherfreut sind wir über die erneute Teilnahme von Uffe Sörensen (Social Collaboration Director – Europe, Middle-East & Africa, IBM Denmark).

Jason Roy Gary wird uns die Zukunftspläne von IBM zu Connections präsentieren. Für ihn wie für IBM ist Connections Pink nicht einfach die nächste Version von Connections. Vielmehr stellt Connections Pink eine Reise dar. Das wird verständlich, wenn man gehört hat, was im Unterbau von Connections in Zukunft alles geschehen soll. Nicht mehr IBM Lösungen wie Websphere oder DB2 sollen in Zukunft die Basis von Connections bilden. Es sollen Lösungen wie MongoDB, React.js, Ngnx und Docker die Basis bilden. Was natürlich bedingt, dass Code umgeschrieben werden muss und die Umstellung auf die neuen Technologien nicht von einem Tag auf den anderen geschehen wird. IBM möchte dadurch unter anderem agiler werden und von Releases weg zu “continuous delivery” kommen.

Uffe Sörensen wird im zweiten Vortrag uns mit News und Updates aus dem Domino/Notes Umfeld versorgen. Dabei wird mit Sicherheit auch IBM Verse, die neue Weboberfläche mit Offline-Funktionen von IBM für Domino/Notes, nicht fehlen.

Beide Vorträge werden in Englisch gehalten. Nach den Vorträgen werden beide Redner sich den Fragen aus dem Publikum stellen.

As in previous years, the IBM Connect User Group (ICON) Switzerland Meeting will be hold on September, 13th 2017 from 15:00 at the University of Zurich (KOL-F-104). All who attended Mat Newmann’s presentation in 2012 on Notes for sure remember his yellow suit. At that time, still the colour of Lotus Notes.

Jason Roy Gary (Director of Software Development and IBM Distinguished Engineer with IBM’s Collaboration Solutions) presented the future plans for IBM Connections Pink at IBM Connect 2017 in an appropriate suit. His presentations evoke memories of Mat Newmann. We are extremely pleased that we were able to win him as speaker for this event. We are also very happy about the participation of Uffe Sörensen (Social Collaboration Director – Europe, Middle-East & Africa, IBM Denmark).

Jason Roy Gary will present the future plans from IBM for Connections. For him as for IBM, Connections Pink is not simply the next version of Connections. Rather, Connections Pink is a journey. This is understandable, if one has heard what changes will occur. No more IBM solutions such as WebSphere or DB2 will form the basis of Connections in the future. Solutions such as MongoDB, React.js, Ngnx and Docker will form the basis. This, of course, requires that code must be rewritten and the changeover to the new technologies will not happen from one day to the next. IBM would like to become more agile and shift from a release based delivery to “continuous delivery“.

In the second lecture, Uffe Sörensen will provide us with news and updates from the Domino/Notes environment. IBM Verse, IBM’s new Web interface with Domino/Notes offline features, will surely been covered.

Both lectures are held in English. After the lectures, both speakers will answer questions from the audience.
