The fög - Research Center for the Public Sphere and Society at the University of Zurich specializes in research on media and the public sphere. Since its foundation in 1997, the center has focused on the digital transformation of the public sphere, particularly changes in the media and their implications for society. With its annual publication Yearbook Quality of the Media, the fög, with an interdisciplinary team of 15 people, has been systematically investigating the development of the media system and user behavior on an empirical basis.
In addition to scientific research, the center conducts research projects on behalf of companies and organizations, including in the areas of media and reputation analysis. The research center has a strong national and international network and long-standing research cooperation with renowned institutions, including the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford.
