Some humanities at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, such as history and musicology, require knowledge of Latin or Greek.
UZH imparts this knowledge in modules of 6 ECTS credits each:
If these modules are part of your curriculum, you can take them during your studies.
We can recognize previous courses from high schools or other institutions if they are listed below. The Latin or Greek modules must be compulsory modules of your program in order to do this. Instead of the module in Latin or Greek, you complete other coursework to the extent of the recognized ECTS credits. Where you compensate the modules depends on the study plan.

The University of Zurich Student Administration Office will record the knowledge of Latin or Greek at the time of enrollment if it results from a Swiss university entrance qualification or recognized cantonal matura certificates.
Please contact Student Services to hand in the above mentioned recognized proof of language documents for Latin or Greek. Other evidence of competence in Latin will be reviewed on an individual basis by the specialists at the Department of Greek and Latin Philology.
