The UZH group has been a member of the CMS collaboration since 1995, with emeritus Prof. C. Amsler leading the group. Since 2012, the groups of Prof. Canelli and Prof. Kilminster lead CMS UZH groups and contribute to physics measurements, searches for new physics interactions and particles, building and operating detector systems, and development and implementation of event and object selection algorithms. In 2019, PRIMA fellow Dr. C. Botta's group joined UZH. Her main activities are on trigger development and searches for supersymmetry. Since 2020 SNF Eccelenza Prof. Caminada is jointly appointed at UZH and PSI, and her group focused on detector development and searches for rare Higgs boson production.
Many dozens of Ph.D. students have graduated from the UZH CMS group, and many scientists have contributed to the physics output and detector development and operations.
