  • Multispecies oral biofilm models (physiology and 3D structure of biofilms under changing conditions)
  • Composition and characteristics of the extracellular matrix in oral biofilms
  • Inter- and intra-species interaction within oral biofilms in health and disease
  • Interaction between oral biofilm and host cells
  • Antimicrobial resistance of planktonic and adherent oral microorganisms
  • Mobile genetic elements and horizontal gene transfer in Streptococcus spp.
  • Identification of oral bacteria using modern techniques (e.g., fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH), next-generation sequencing, MALDI-TOF MS, confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), real-time PCR, etc.)
