Bare Branches and Drifting Kites: Tackling Female Infanticide and Foeticide in India

Arjun Singh Bedi is Professor of Development Economics at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Hague. His recent research focuses on socio-economic changes in India including the link between dowry and domestic violence and the connection between the economic value of women, female infanticide and sex-selective abortion in India. In his presentation he will draw from his recent work on Marital Violence and Women’s Employment and Property Status: Evidence from North Indian Villages (IZA Discussion Papers).
