UZH Awards

Each year at the Dies academicus celebration, the University's faculties award honorary doctorates to distinguished teachers and researchers. In addition, the status of "guest of honor" is granted in recognition of dedicated service to academia.
Honorary Doctorates and Guests of Honor

The University's teaching award has been granted since 2007. The prize is valued at CHF 10,000 and is funded by the Credit Suisse Foundation Jubilee, which is why the official name of the prize is "Credit Suisse Award for Best Teaching." It, too, is presented at the annual Dies academicus celebration.

Each faculty at UZH presents an annual award for excellent scholarship. These awards are also presented at the Dies academicus festivities.

The semester awards are also granted by the faculties for excellent work. The prize is presented at the "Tag der Lehre".

Besides handing out awards for academic achievements, each year the University of Zurich also presents the Team Effort Award to staff or students in acknowledgment of outstanding commitment. The award comes with prize money of CHF 5,000 and is presented at the Dies academicus.
