Research

The research community at the Department of History is diverse in its thematic, regional and temporal expertise. In addition to research projects led by individual scholars, including third-party funded projects, we are active in many international collaborations. Our doctoral students are engaged in cutting-edge research through their PhD dissertations, and we recognise outstanding student seminar papers in our annual Motivator prizes.

Three key themes offer advanced researchers at the Department of History the opportunity to exchange ideas across traditional temporal and spatial subdivisions in a series of events: in talks/lunch chats, invited lectures, workshops, and with invited Visiting Scholars.

The goals are intra- and interdisciplinary collaborations within HIST and with colleagues from other departments at the University of Zurich, and future joint externally-funded projects.
