As a doctoral student, also without an UZH emplyment, a postdoc, a student assistant, assistant or senior assistant at the UZH (whether financed by SNF, third-party funds or directly by the UZH), you belong to the Mid-Level Faculty (Mittelbau). Thanks to the Association of Academic Mid-Level Faculty Staff of the University of Zurich (VAUZ) you can now represent your concerns within UZH and beyond together with your colleagues.
VAUZ takes positions on university consultations.
It organizes the election of delegates of the mid-level faculty members into university and other committees.
The delegates of the mid-level faculty automatically become members of the extended VAUZ board and coordinate themselves and their concerns in three board meetings per semester. Thus, together we ensure that the position of the mid-level faculty at UZH remains good and becomes even better!
Many demands are placed on the mid-level faculty: from teaching to administration, to supporting the professor in his or her research. Where should there be time for your own research activities? Members of the mid-level faculty are often in a very poor legal position. In such situations, we are committed to improving the position of each individual member of the mid-level faculty.
VAUZ Membership is free of charge.
With your membership at the VAUZ you can bring in yourself and your concerns and support VAUZ in its important work for the mid-level faculty. With a large number of members, VAUZ is well supported in the mid-level faculty and can represent members' concerns.
VAUZ warmly welcomes international doctoral students and postdocs to UZH!
We are looking forward to your membership!
VAUZ is always available for questions regarding employment, participation and networking!
At UZH for International Students and Scholars you will find many practical answers about studying and working at UZH as well as about life in Zurich / Switzerland.
