(Stände der Universität und Organisation der Studierenden)
There are four representative body associations at UZH. They represent the respective UZH staff categories. VAUZ is the non-profit-organization of mid-level faculty staff, consisting of all UZH PhD students, postdocs, assistants and senior assistants in temporary training and on qualification positions. The VAUZ coordinates and represents the concerns and interests of more than 7000 members of the UZH body of junior researchers vis-à-vis the UZH and other stakeholders.
For this purpose, VAUZ organizes the election of delegates of the junior researcher staff category.
In various UZH internal and external committees, delegates of the junior researcher staff represent the interests of the staff and thus exercise their co-determination and co-responsibility in university politics in university-wide and faculty committees as well as in committees of seminars, institutes and clinics.

While VAUZ is responsible for ensuring that junior researchers have a say in university politics, both VAUZ and UZH Graduate Campus support initiatives of early career researchers for exchange, networking, events, further education and financial support.
VAUZ administrates a conference fund to promote networking among mid-level faculy staff of the University of Zurich. The resources for this fund come from the University of Zurich.
