topimage

The KFS Clinic focuses its research on basic science as well as on translational and clinical applications in the field of orofacial pain, function and dysfunction of the temporomandibular joints, and dental biomaterials.
The synergic work of the interdisciplinary consultation unit for the diagnosis and treatment of orofacial pain and temporomandibular disorders and the laboratory of physiology and biomechanics of the masticatory system contributes to the understanding of pain perception, mandibular function and dysfunction, and cartilage degradation through basic and translational projects using quantitative analyses based on original in-house developments. These projects are expected to lead to significant clinical applications, both preventive and therapeutic.

The research in the field of Dental Biomaterials concentrates on development and application of artificial materials and digital manufacturing technologies. One other major focus is on innovative adhesive technologies. Research projects are conducted in close collaboration with various national and international partners from medical and basic science disciplines.
