At the beginning of the fall semester, 28,664 students were enrolled at UZH, of whom 59.3% are women and 24.2% have a foreign educational background. 4,932 new students joined UZH. As in previous years, law, medicine and psychology are the most popular subjects.

Please note: These figures are accurate as of 11 September 2025. The final student numbers for 2025 will be collected at the end of January and communicated in the annual report. The number of students usually increases over the course of the semester as further enrollments are made.

In 2024, 28,476 students were enrolled at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels, with 4,959 new enrollments.

Overall staff numbers once again in­creased in 2024, reaching a total of 10,300. The pro­portion of women among prof­essors was over 30 percent for the first time.

The total revenue of UZH rose to CHF 1.7 billion in 2024. UZH closed the year with a positive re­sult and re­corded profits of CHF 1.0 million. Third-party fund­ing came to CHF 362 million – almost reaching the re­cord high chieved in 2022.
