Talks with Iris Ludwig and Iren Bischofberger

The World Health Organization WHO has designated 2020 the «Year of the Nurse and Midwife» in honor of the 200th birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale. (1). Nurses and midwives account for nearly half of the global health workforce. It is about time for an international focus on their accomplishments and their professional development. But what does that mean for us in Switzerland?

A new exhibition at the Main Library – Medicine Careum features talks with the two nursing scientists Iris Ludwig and Iren Bischofberger. Both have accompanied the development of nursing education in Switzerland over many years and have contributed to the professionalization of Swiss nursing in teaching and research.

The Main Library – Medicine Careum exhibits publications by the two committed nursing experts, who specialize in different fields. In video interviews, they talk about their work and their ideas for strengthening nursing care in Switzerland. To complement the exhibition, additional interviews with important voices in nursing and midwifery will be published on this blog.
