What is Gender Studies?

Gender Studies is one of the youngest scholarly disciplines. It investigates the significance of gender and gender-difference at the cultural, psychological and social levels and inquires into the relationship between biological-physiological gender-difference markers and socio-cultural constructions of gender norms. As gender plays a central role in the most varied areas of life and knowledge, teaching and research in this subject are organized on an interdisciplinary basis.
