At the beginning of 2026 Fall Semester, 29,037 students were enrolled at UZH, 59.3 percent of whom are women. Of the students enrolled, 19.6 percent come from abroad. A total of 5,129 students newly matriculated at UZH. As in previous years, law, human medicine and psychology are the fields of study with the highest numbers of students.

These figures are provisional and are based on the data available as of 14 September 2026. The final student numbers for 2026 will be compiled at the end of January 2027 and published in the spring 2027. Based on previous years, the number of students is expected to increase over the course of the semester as additional students enroll.

In 2025, 28,785 students were enrolled at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels, with 4,945 new enrollments.

Overall staff numbers once again in­creased in 2024, reaching a total of 10,323 or 7,882 full time equivalents. The pro­portion of women among prof­essors continued to rise, reaching 33 percent.

The total re­venue of UZH amounted to CHF 1,7 billion. UZH closed the year with a po­si­tive re­sult and re­corded pro­fits of CHF 1.4 million. Third-party fund­ing came to CHF 360 million – almost reaching the level of CHF 362 million achieved in the pre­vi­ous year.
