Booking and cancelation
By booking a module you are automatically registered for the associated assessment(s). Should you fail to appear for the exam, the correspondingly module shall be marked as «failed» on your record of achievement.
In general, you can find the exam dates in the syllabus and your instructor shall inform you of them accordingly. An overview of the exam dates and dates for various compulsory modules in the bachelor degree program:

Procedure for withdrawing from examinations due to illness
In the event of illness you can submit a written withdrawal request up to five working days after the date of the assessment. Fill in the form in the box at the top right and mail it with the scanned doctor’s certificate to the examination delegate of IKMZ.
By doing so, you shall avoid a failed attempt and be admitted to a postponed exam (Nachklausur). In the compulsory modules, this shall take place at the same time as the retry exam (Wiederholungsklausur). If, after being allowed to take a postponed original exam, you decide not to take part, you need to deregister in writing (e-mail) with the IKMZ office by, at the latest, five working days before the date of the exam.
Procedure for withdrawing from examinations due to other valid and verifiable reasons of impediment
In the event of other valid and verifiable reasons of impediment, you can submit an informal written withdrawal request up to five working days after the date of the assessment addressed to the examination delegate of IKMZ.
Exam clashes do not constitute a valid reason! The same rules as in case of illness are applied for participation/cancellation in/of postponed and retry exams.
Retry exams (≠ additional sittings of the first exam) are only offered for compulsory modules. By booking the module, you will be registered for the regular exam. If you do not pass the regular exam or fail to appear for it, you will be automatically registered for the retry exam, provided that this takes place in the same semester (cf. Section 37 of the University of Zurich’s Framework Regulation (RVO)). If you do not wish to take part in the retry exam, you must deregister in writing (an e-mail is sufficient) with the IKMZ office by, at the latest, five working days before the date of the exam.
There is no retry exam for the elective and core elective lectures. Should you fail, the module must be re-booked or replaced by a different elective or core elective lecture. Even if a compulsory (elective) lecture is offered multiple times, it is only permitted to be repeated once.
You must carry ID with you in all exams, sessions reviewing past exam papers and at all other formal occasions attended in person. Please always bring your student ID along to do so.
