Until now, search in Rechercheportal and swisscovery always included the search for articles. This led to high hit rates, and when searching for books, the reviews were displayed before the actual books.
Now the article search in the Rechercheportal is excluded by default: “swisscovery (without CDI)”. If you also want to search for articles, you have to explicitly select “swisscovery (with CDI)”. As before, swisscovery covers the holdings of all Swiss university libraries.
Conversely, the article search via the general swisscovery is included by default: “swisscovery (with CDI)”. If you want to exclude it, you have to explicitly select “swisscovery (without CDI)”.
CDI is a product of Ex Libris/ProQuest. The abbreviation stands for Central Discovery Index. The CDI contains over 200 million entries, articles and e-book chapters, but also conference papers. The data comes mainly from the providers of the journals and e-books. By default, only content to which access is available is found. By clicking on “Include publications without fulltext”, the search scope can be expanded to include hits to which access is not licensed.
