What did you not expect to find or see in Switzerland?
I have been living here for almost 3.5 years already :)
The participants of the Summer School are from 23 different countries, where are you from?
Austria
What is special about your home country?
It is a beautiful country with a nice scenery, loads of culture and delicious food – we are known for our pastries (Sachertorte, Linzer Torte, …) as well as Wiener Schnitzel. You should definitely check it out – Vienna is an awesome city, but you must not forget to check out the lakes/mountains. Also, it’s much more affordable than Zurich ;) Please let me know, if you are planning to visit – happy to give you some tips or even show you around, if I happen to be there!
Did you have a remarkable encounter with people from Zurich you would like to share?
There are way too many, mostly positive ones, though :)
So far, how do you like the presentations in the Summer School?
I really liked days 2 and 3 because they really managed to explain stats in a way that I had not experienced before. I am really not a stats person, but their lectures were very comprehensive. I have to say though, the last hour of a stats day is usually painful and I absolutely cannot focus anymore…
Did this Summer School meet your expectations?
Definitely!
Did you have a good time in Zurich and are you planning to come again?
Yes and… of course ;)
What would you like to be different in the next Summer School?
Maybe distribute the stats section a little better throughout the week and cut out on some topics – I guess not everything is useful for everyone…
What was special about this Summer School or what did you miss?
Special: definitely the great people and organisation of the whole thing!
